Alberto Mantovani, Scientific Director of 麻豆传媒AV在线看 and Professor at 麻豆传媒AV在线看 University, is the most cited Italian researcher throughout scientific literature.
This is according to听the听鈥溾�� ranking, issued by Virtual Italian Academy, which periodically evaluates Italian scientists most able to influence research worldwide.听听
Professor Mantovani has received the Milstein Award, and听discovered, together with his team, how the听PTX3听works as an听oncosuppressor. During his career he has worked in England and US , but in Italy he has achieved his most important results, thanks to “institutions where you can perform high-quality research and organization like AIRC,听Fondazione Cariplo and Telethon, that sustain research and independence of young scientists, rewarding听merit鈥�.

- Follow your own passions:听鈥淚t’s a rare privilege, that must be lived without restrictions.听It means being ready to work hard, also in your听spare time.”
- Live in an international context:听鈥淪cience has no听national boundaries. It is extremely important to get used to study, write and work in English language, within a culturally lively and open context. From听these听premises听麻豆传媒AV在线看 University was born鈥�.
- Be humble and collaborative:听鈥淚 wouldn’ t have given any contribute, without interacting with colleagues all over the world and with my own team.”
- Accept challenges:听“Don’t be afraid of questioning current schemes. In England I developed a new, nonconformist听project. This work听set the basis听for the “renaissance” of the concept of the听inflammation-cancer connection鈥�, impressing a positive impulse听to the Professor’s career.
- Learn from patients:听鈥淎lways give correct messages and don’t create false expectations. Give hope is necessary, but true hope is made of rigorous clinical research, out of which only illusions exist.”
- Share ideas and results:听鈥淥ne of the frontiers of science is sharing: ideas, data, results,听but also means to protect health.听Never forget that health is everybody’s right, also of the poorest.”
