His goal is to understand the role of alterations in the mother-child dyad in the development and severity of neurological and neuropsychiatric diseases. In particular, Sebastiano uses animal models, both environmental and genetic, of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) to study sex-specific alterations in meso-cortico-striatal circuits. Sebastiano uses a range of physiological techniques, including ex vivo and in vivo electrophysiology, and in vivo photometry combined with behavioural techniques.
