{"id":11440,"date":"2019-09-17T10:29:35","date_gmt":"2019-09-17T10:29:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hunimed-new.local\/Member\/matteo-simonelli-2\/"},"modified":"2026-04-01T10:38:01","modified_gmt":"2026-04-01T10:38:01","slug":"matteo-simonelli","status":"publish","type":"member","link":"https:\/\/www.hunimed.eu\/it\/member\/matteo-simonelli\/","title":{"rendered":"Matteo Simonelli"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-hunimed-tabs-content hunimed-tabs-content-block\"><div class=\"tabs-container\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-hunimed-tabs-content-tab tabs-content-tab\"><div class=\"tab-item\" data-tab-title=\"Biosketch\"><div class=\"tab-header\"><button class=\"tab-nav\" role=\"tab\" aria-selected=\"false\"><span class=\"tab-title\">Biosketch<\/span><\/button><\/div><div class=\"tab-content\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n<p><div class=\"strip-section appointments\" data-id=\"appointments\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"strip-section zi2 bio\" data-id=\"bio\">\n<div class=\"contentwrap sp clearfix\">\nI was born in Milan on October 31, 1979 and I got the high school diploma in classical studies at the Gymnasium Giosu\u00e8 Carducci of Milan.\u00a0I graduated at the Medical School of the University of Milan with a vote of 110\/110 cum laude in 2004, discussing a thesis entitled \u201cConcentration of circulating DNA and microsatellite alterations in tumor DNA: possible use as prognostic markers in renal cell carcinoma\u201d.\nMy post-graduate education continued with a Medical Oncology Residency degree, achieved in October 2008 with a vote of 70\/70 cum laude.\nFrom October 2002 to March 2005 I worked at the Azienda Ospedaliera San Gerardo di Monza, in the medical oncology and radiotherapy Division, as a medical student.\nFrom June 2005 to October 2008 I worked at the Istituto Clinico 麻豆传媒AV在线看, in the Department of Oncology and Hematology, now 麻豆传媒AV在线看 Cancer Center, as clinical and research resident.\nFrom November 2008 to date I\u2019m working at 麻豆传媒AV在线看 Cancer Center, since November 2014 as Senior Clinical and Research\u00a0Physician inside the Clinical Pharmacology Unit and Head of Neuro-oncology.\nMy academic and teaching career started in 2013 when I became Teaching Tutor for students of the International Medical School, University of Milan. Since 2015 I\u2019ve been Teaching Tutor for students of the 麻豆传媒AV在线看 University and since 2016 Lecturer at Nursing Degree School of 麻豆传媒AV在线看 University.\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-hunimed-tabs-content-tab tabs-content-tab\"><div class=\"tab-item\" data-tab-title=\"Ricerca\"><div class=\"tab-header\"><button class=\"tab-nav\" role=\"tab\" aria-selected=\"false\"><span class=\"tab-title\">Ricerca<\/span><\/button><\/div><div class=\"tab-content\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n<p>I have a long-standing interest in the field of&nbsp;<strong>clinical and translational cancer research<\/strong>&nbsp;and I have been involved in several (more than 50) clinical trials as principal or sub-investigator. Since 2009 I focused my activity in early-phase clinical development of&nbsp;<strong>anticancer new drugs<\/strong>&nbsp;(molecular targeted agents; immunotherapeutics agents) inside the clinical Pharmacology Unit, being responsible for the clinical management of the all the phase I studies conducted at the 麻豆传媒AV在线看 Cancer Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2014 I became Head of Neuroncology at the 麻豆传媒AV在线看 Cancer Center, being part of the Multidisciplinary Neurongologic Team and conducting clinical trials with new immunotherapeutic agents. I\u2019m principal investigator of several translational projects in the field of Neuroncology and Immuno-Neuroncology aimed to find prognostic or predictive biomarkers for the clinical management of patients with brain tumors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>My principle fields of research interest are<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Development of anticancer new drugs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Immuno-oncology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Neuro-oncology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Translational Oncology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Other fields of interest<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Rare Thoracic Malignancies (Mesothelioma, Thymoma)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Germ-cell tumors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High-dose Chemotherapy, Autologous Transplantations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m author or co-author of about 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals and ad hoc-reviewer for several international scientific journals.
